A documentary about a New Jersey amusement park that earned a reputation for being the most crazily dangerous of the 1980s, Action Park, gets a documentary treatment that may play like this year’s Fyre Festival doc. It ’s packed with witty comics like Chris Gethard and Alison Becker, who worked there and recall the peril and it’s got a title that’s pretty clever too: “Class Action Park” (HBO Max, streaming). John Hodgman narrates.
The streaming service also brings a new series from the Indian-American actor that involves travel and life philosophy, “Ravi Patel’s Pursuit of Happiness” (HBO Max, streaming). The first is a sweet episode that involves considerations about retirement as he and his parents travel in Mexico. Other episodes look at parenting, work and immigration, in Japan, South Korea and Denmark.
In the imported UK series “Pure” (HBO Max, streaming), a Scottish woman goes to London to clear her mind of dirty thoughts that invade her mind. Based on the Rose Cartwright book of the same name it stars Charly Clive.
