The 2020 Billboard Music Awards (NBC, 8 p.m.) is the latest event to attempt to work amid a pandemic. It had already been postponed since April. Kelly Clarkson hosts and will be performing with Shiela E and Whitney Houston. Other performers include ,Alicia Keys, garth Brooks, John Legend, Post Malone, Brandy with Ty Dolla Sign, Doja Cat, En Vogue, Kane Brown, Swae Lee and Khalid, Luke Combs, Saint Jhn, Bad Bunny, Demi Lovato and BTS.
Another K-pop group isn’t nominated but has its own film premiering today. “Blackpink: Light Up the Sky” (Netflix, streaming) shows the rise of the girl group as well as scenes of them recording their second album.
Season 32 of “The Amazing Race” (CBS, 9 p.m.) wrapped production way back in 2018, and was to have premiered last spring. Instead, it was saved for the fall, with 11 teams starting the race from the Hollywood Bowl to France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago. Phil Keoghan hosts once more.
After “Love Fraud,” it’s a surprise to find there’s another guy toying with affection on the premiere episode of “The Con” (ABC, 10 p.m.). Whoopi Goldberg narrates.
In the new series “The Age of Nature” (PBS, 10 p.m.), scientists and conservationists work to restore ecosystems worldwide, starting in Mozambique. It’s also in that country’s Gorongosa National Park, where wild dogs are brought in to replace the disappeared predators on “Nova” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings).
