Now that “The White Lotus” is over, you may be on the search for another glossy pot boiler about rich people. Nicole Kidman almost started the genre with David E. Kelley, and they’re both back in the new “Nine Perfect Strangers” (Hulu, streaming), based on the Laine Moriarty book of the same name about attendees at an odd self-help camp.

Kidman takes the role of cult leader herself, using a terrible wig and Russian accent. Each of the attendees are cliches of various stripes, nonetheless played by big names like Melissa McCarthy, Regina Hall and Bobby Cannavale. And while Michael Shannon maybe alone is a standout in the group, the rest are overcooked or under-done. The first three episodes land today; I never made it past the second.

“In the Same Breath” (HBO, 9 p.m.) is a documentary by Nanfu Wang about the early days of the outbreak in Wuhan — and how disinformation by leaders occurred there as well.

The most unnecessary new show of the summer may be “House Calls with Dr. Phil” (CBS, 9 p.m.) which differentiates from his exploitation daytime show by not being in a studio?

“Awkwafina is Nora from Queens” (Comedy Central, 10 p.m.) returns for a second season with a pair of episodes.

Also back for a second season is “Diary of a Future President” (Disney+, streaming), continuing its long campaign.
