Jane Campion’s acclaimed new Western “The Power of the Dog” (Netflix, streaming), an adaptation of Thomas Savage’s 1967 novel, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst, makes its television debut.
The cancelled series has new life in the holiday musical “Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas” (Roku Channel) with original cast members Jane Levy, Peter Gallagher, Mary Steenburgen and Skylar Astin in a special that will also serve as a series finale.
Alessia Cara, Harry Connick Jr., Norah Jones, Mickey Guyton, Carrie Underwood, Rob Thomas and Brad Paisley all perform in the 89th annual “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” (NBC, 8 p.m.), which returns to being a live event. Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker host.
The daytime talk show host and “Voice” coach gets her own special, “Kelly Clarkson Presents: When Christmas Comes Around” (NBC, 10 p.m.) with guest appearances from Ariana Grande, Amy Poehler, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Odom Jr., and Jay Leno.
Other holiday specials include a new animated work, “Beebo Saves Christmas” (CW, 8 p.m.) about an elf who tries to streamline North Pole operations, but it set straight by the furry blue character with a voice cast that includes Chris Kattan and Ernie Hudson.
Better known cartoon characters populate “Mickey and Minnie Wish Upon a Christmas” (Disney Junior, 7 p.m.).
“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” (FXX, 10 p.m.) returns for an historic 15th season — the longest for a live action comedy — with a pair of episodes that comment on the upheavals that occurred last year. They squandered all their PPP loans, for one thing.
