HBO marks Holocaust Day of Remembrance with a powerful new Barry Levinson film about a Polish man who survived Auschwitz by participating in cruel boxing matches held for the enjoyment of Nazi jailers and is haunted by the past each time he returns to the ring after the war, his only hope being to use fight publicity to be reunited with a girl lost long ago. Ben Foster portrays Harry Haft in “The Survivor” (HBO, 8 p.m.), which also features Vicky Krieps, Billy Magnussen, Peter Sarsgaard, Danny DeVito and John Leguizamo. Which of course is not to be confused with “Survivor” (CBS, 8 p.m.) at the same hour.
The new series “Sketchbook” (Disney+, streaming) takes a behind-the-scenes look at its contemporary animation studio.
