A salute to Daylight Savings Time end means falling back to a lot of the tunes I played when we moved the clock up an hour in March, it turns out. But also a number of other songs that consider the matter of time, very much on the mind of artists from Tom Waits and James Brown to the Kinks and the Outsiders.
Paused to note the birthdays of Johnny Rivers (80!) and Joni Mitchell (79) and an early R&B singer born on this day, Dee Clark. Also marked the sixth anniversary of the death of Leonard Cohen, and paid tribute to Low co-founder Mimi Parker, who died of cancer at 55 Saturday.
Closed with some hopeful urgings to vote, with a final set from Willie Nelson, the Move, John Lennon and Patti Smith and Jason Isbell. Do help protect democracy, won’t you?
