Edgar Allan Poe’s days at West Point, where a cadet is found murdered, is the premise of the film “The Pale Blue Eye” (Netflix, streaming) with Christian Bale as a local detective, Harry Telling as Poe. The cast also includes Gillian Anderson, Toby Jones and Robert Duvall. 

The new series “The Rig” (Amazon Prime, streaming) concerns intrigue on an oil rig off the coast of Scotland, where a crew of workers become stranded by a supernatural mist. Iain Glen, Emily Hampshire and Martin Compston also star. 

The new four-part documentary series “Boys in Blue” (Showtime, 8 p.m.) follows a Minneapolis high school players who were coached by police officers after the murder of George Floyd’s murder. It’s not to be confused with “Blue Bloods” (CBS, 10 p.m.), which returns with an episode directed by series star Bridget Moynahan.
