Not always factually reliable, “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” (HBO, 9 p.m.) was always entertaining in its first season. It returns tonight as the action moves to the early 1980s and the rivalry between Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. It’s quite a cast, with John C. Reilly, Adrien Brody, Jason Clarke, Sally Field, Jason Segel, Gaby Hoffmann and Michael Chiklis.
“The Chi” (Showtime, 9 p.m.) returns for its sixth season.
The Canadian family drama “Heartland” (UPtv, 7 p.m.) returns for its sixteenth season.

“Say It Loud: The History of Black Television” (CNN, 9 p.m.) concludes with a look at Black inroads into space sagas.
