Essentially a remake of the nearly 20-year-old CMT series “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team,”  the new seven-episode “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” (Netflix, streaming) takes on a slightly glossier look, from the team that made “Cheer” and “Last Chance U.”

 But it’s the same story: Women line up to become high kicking dolls for an NFL franchise and take abuse from former cheerleaders, now in their 60s. In fact it’s the same women, Kelli McGonagill Finglass and Judy

Trammell downgrading women for lack to pizazz or not enough toning in their belly. It plays out like one of those cult series — why would anyone subject herself to become low paid eye candy? — as we follow a season of tryouts, practice and performance. 

 “Alone Australia” (History, 9:30 p.m.) returns for a new season in which 10 people survive the outback in hopes of winning prize money. It follows the season premiere for “Alone” (History, 8 p.m.) involving five survivalists in the Arctic. 

U.S. Olympic Trials (NBC, 8 p.m.) continue.

“Love Undercover” (Bravo, 8 p.m.), the dating show involving high profile soccer stars who hide their identities from American daters, shows its conclusive episodes on cable.

There’s a halibut face-off on “Outchef’d” (Food, 9:30 p.m.).

“The Lost Treasures of Egypt” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.) rediscover the Sun Kings. 

Homeschooling is no picnic on “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” (MTV, 8 p.m.). 

“Lost Beasts: Unearthed” (National Geographic, 10 p.m.) pokes around the La Brea Tar Pits. 

There’s an aggressive Labradoodle on “Cesar Millan: Better Human Better Dog” (Nat Geo Wild, 10 p.m.). 

“7 Little Johnstons” (TLC, 10 p.m.) celebrate Poppy’s 90th birthday on the third of three new episodes that begin at 8.

James Stewart gets the spotlight on Turner Classic movies tonight, in “Rear Window” (8 p.m.), “The Far Country” (10 p.m.), “Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation” (midnight), “The Spirit of St. Louis” (2:15 a.m.) and “Malaya” (4:45 a.m.). 

During the day are the Western comedies “I’m from the City” (6 a.m.), “Henry Goes Arizona” (7:15 a.m.), “Way Out West” (8:30 a.m.), “The Dude Goes West” (10 a.m.), “Bad Bascomb” (11:30 a.m.), “Big Jack” (1:30 p.m.), “Jackass Mall” (3 p.m.), “Many Rivers to Cross” (4:30 p.m.) and “Dirty Dingus Magee” (6:15 p.m.).

A regular season baseball game San Francisco vs. St. Louis (Fox, 7 p.m.) is played in Birmingham, Ala., to pay tribute to the Negro Leagues.
