The new NBA season doesn’t start for nearly two weeks, but to get you ready there’s a new series taking an in-depth look at the last season through the eyes of five players: Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Domantas Sabots and Jayson Tatum in the 10-part “Starting 5” (Netflix, streaming). There’s also some preseason basketball that includes Houston at Oklahoma City (NBA, 8 p.m.) and Golden State at Sacramento (ESPN, 10:30 p.m.). 

Network television’s best comedy “Abbott Elementary” (ABC, 9:30 p.m.) returns for its fourth season with a cliffhanger to resolve — a kiss between Quinta Brunson’s character and that with Tyler James Williams. The school’s HR is on the case. 

Every reality show has a villain. The show that brings them together for their own reality competition, “House of Villains” (E!, 10 p.m.), is back for a second season, hosted by Joel McHale. The new crop includes Richard Hatch from the first season of “Survivor”; Tiffany “New York” Pollard, for the second time; Jessie Godderz of “Big Brother,” table-flipping “Real Housewife of New Jersey” “Teresa Giudice, Kandy Muse of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Victoria Larson of “The Bachelor,” Larissa Lima of “90 Day Fiancé” and Wes Bergmann of “The Challenge” (MTV, 8 p.m.). They’ll compete for a $200,000 prize. The premiere is simulcast on Bravo, Syfy and USA.

The work of a man who has been collecting evidence of cryptids, or unknown species, will be  the focus of a new series “Lost Monster Files” (Discovery, 10:05 p.m.). 

There’s double elimination on “The Masked Singer” (Fox, 8 p.m.), where Group 1 finalists will sing songs close to their heart. Most the unmasked so have been Yvette Nicole Brown and John Elway. 

Maggie searches for clues as she approaches a decision on “Sullivan’s Crossing” (CW, 8 p.m.).

“Chicago Med” (NBC, 8 p.m.) treats a woman treats a pregnant woman with a threatening, undiagnosed condition. “Chicago Fire” (NBC, 9 p.m.) responds to a fire at a family restaurant. And “Chicago P.D.” (NBC, 10 p.m.) deals with an armed robbery. 

“Big Cats 24/7” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) finds a baby boom in the Delta. 

The hunt for Black Bart is the subject of “Wild West Chronicles” (INSP, 10 p.m.). 

“Expedition Unknown” (Discovery, 9 p.m.) begins its 14th season with a two-part episode in the ancient city of Petra, Jordan. 

Renovation specialists in Detroit, Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas, try a new city in the new series “Bargain Blood New Orleans” (HGTV, 9 p.m.). 

“American Pickers” (History, 9 p.m.) returns for its 26th season. Those guys never had enough. 

Not sure what male strippers have to do with mature romance, but the Chippendales make an appearance on “The Golden Bachelorette” (ABC, 8 p.m.).

“Survivor” (CBS, 8 p.m.) sure has been having a lot of people botch their immunity idol hunts this season. 

The most disheartening thing about “The Summit” (CBS, 9:30 p.m.) may be the back-stabbing.

“Secrets of the Dead” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) tells the story of Mozart’s older sister, a musical prodigy in her own right.

Gravity’s role in the creation of planets is explained on “Nova” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings). 

“The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” (Bravo, 9 p.m.) are on a girls’ trip to Milwaukee. 

Four chefs have 20 minutes to create an upscale dinner on “Guy’s Grocery Games” (Food, 9 p.m.). 

“Forged in Fire” (History, 10 p.m.) has two former champions compete head-to-head. 

Lois gets closer to the killer on “Grotesquerie” (FX, 10 p.m.). 

Bela Legosi continues his reign as star of the month on Turner Classic Movies with “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein” (8 p.m.), “Zombies on Broadway” (9:30 p.m.), “You’ll Find Out” (10:45 p.m.), “Spooks Run Wild” (12:30 a.m.), “Ghosts on the Loose” (1:45 a.m.), “The Death Kiss” (3 a.m.), “Scared to Death” (4:15 a.m.) and “The Gorilla” (5:30 a.m.). 

During the day, TCM has boxing tales with “The Prizefighter and the Lady” (6 a.m.), “Gentleman Jim” (8 a.m.), “The Joe Louis Story” (10 a.m.), “The Champ” (11:45 a.m.), “Kid Galahad” (2 p.m.), “Somebody Up There Likes Me” (4 p.m.) and “The Greatest” (6 p.m.). 

Baseball’s divisional playoffs continue with Cleveland at Detroit (TBS, truTV, 3 p.m.), Philadelphia at Mets (Fox Sports 1, 5 p.m.), Yankees at Royals (TBS, truTV, 7 p.m.) and Dodgers at San Diego (Fox Sports 1, 9 p.m.). 

The opening of the NHL season continues with Rangers at Pittsburgh (TNT, 7:30 p.m.) and Colorado at Vegas (TNT, 10 p.m.). 

College football has New Mexico State at Jacksonville State (ESPN2, 7:30 p.m.).
