The popular series “Squid Game” (Netflix, streaming) returns for a new season, set three years after Song Gi-hun’s winning the treacherous survival competition in the first season. He’s back to compete again in season two, but also motivated to find out more about the mysterious people who run the game as well.
With Christmas over, it’s time to look to the turning of the new year with a look back. The two hour “The Year: 2024” (ABC, 9 p.m.), hosted by Robin Roberts, reviews the past 12 months. It runs opposite a replay of “E! News Presents NBC’s Hot 10 of 2024” (NBC, 8 p.m.).
From the UK comes the annual “Carols from King’s Christmas Special 2024” (BritBox, streaming) from King’s College Chapel in Cambridge.
The two first season game shows based on board games, “Scrabble” (CW, 8 p.m.) and “Trivial Pursuit” (CW, 9 p.m.), both end their seasons.
“The Flipping El Moussas” (HGTV, 9 p.m.) begins a new season of renovating homes in Southern California.
Also back for a second season is “Building Outside the Lines” (Magnolia, 8 p.m.) in which a father and daughter make unusual creations, such as an airplane fuselage to a tiny home tonight.
Pauly plans a yacht day on “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” (MTV, 8 p.m.).
In the made-for-TV thriller “Taken in Plain Sight” (Lifetime Movie Network, 8 p.m.) about a mother who goes after her daughter’s abductor on her own.
“Mountain Men” (History, 9 p.m.) end their 13th season by finishing the Iditarod.
The flood story gets another look on “Lost Treasures of the Bible” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.).
“Mysterious Islands” (National Geographic, 10 p.m.) finds shipwrecks off the coast of goat Island.
