Set at Christmastime, the film “Goodbye June” (Netflix, streaming) concerns a family coming together as a mother’s health fails. Helen Mirren plays the matriarch, Kate Winslet, who also directed, is one of the adult offsprings, alongside Toni Collette, Andrea Riseborough and Johnny Flynn. Timothy Spall is also part of the cast. 

Pope Leo XIV leads his first “Christmas Eve Mass” (NBC, 11:30 p.m.) live from St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. 

College football has California vs. Hawaii (ESPN, 8 p.m.) in the Hawaii Bowl  from Honolulu. 

Networks have the battle of the holiday classics with “It’s a Wonderful Life” (NBC, 8 p.m.) vs. “Home Alone” (ABC, 8 p.m.).

And the 24 hour marathon of “A Christmas Story” (TBS, 8 p.m.; TNT, 9 p.m.) begins on two networks, so that there is a new showing on one of them every hour. 

But mostly, silent night means nothing but reruns on TV.

The last full day of Turner Classic Movies’ Christmas marathon has “Three Godfathers” (7 a.m.), “Bachelor Mother” (8:30 a.m.), “All Mine to Give” (10 a.m.), “The Shop Around the Corner” (noon), “It Happened on 5th Avenue” (2 p.m.), “Holiday Affair” (4:15 p.m.), “Christmas in Connecticut” (6 p.m.), “The Bishop’s Wife” (8 p.m.), “An Affair to Remember” (10 p.m.), “A Christmas Carol” (12:15 a.m.), “O.
