A menacing film starring Robert Mitchum in 1962, and then Robert De Niro in 1991 is now a limited series with Javier Bardem taking the lead in a new “Cape Fear” (Apple TV, streaming0. He plays Max Cady, the ex-con seeking revenge on the couple who represented him unsuccessfully in court years earlier.
Martin Scorsese, who directed the De Niro version, is listed as executive producer along with Steven Spielberg. The cast includes Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson as the embattled couple, Joe Anders and Lily Collias as their kids, with CCH Pounder part of the main cast. Two episodes start the saga tonight, with the remaining eight coming weekly through July 31.
