The best remaining dancer and the worst were both eliminated from “Dancing with the All Stars” Tuesday.
Gilles Marini, who finished second in season eight and has been averaging the highest scores in the current all-star season, with 27.6 out of 30, was relieved of his dancing shoes, as was somewhat less surprising Kiristie Alley, who finished second in season 12 and has had the lowest average score from judges this season, 24.2 out of 30.
Two were eliminated this week because last week’s results show was pre-empted by election coverage. Judges scores from two weeks were combined, with Gilles and his partner Peta Murgatroyd earning 92 points out of a possible 100; and Alley and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy getting 79 points, after scoring the lowest points for two weeks running.
“The second time around, it was very special to me,” Alley said upon her ouster. “To do it once was special, to be asked back was an honor.”
For his part, Marini said, “ “It’s an incredible experience, I tried my very best.”
Remaining contestants for the semi-final round next week are Shawn Johnson, Kelly Monaco, Apolo Anton Ohno, Melissa Rycroft and Emmitt Smith.
