American-Idol-S12-Hollywood-WeekWith the auditions over, “American Idol” (Fox 8 p.m.) moves to Hollywood. There, you’ll be pressed to recall all the voices that were passed through to the new level (mainly because they focused only on a fraction of them).

Still, the relatively short and intense thinning of the herd is usually entertaining for the emotional breakdowns, inability to form groups, lyrics forgotten, stage moms who insert themselves into the rehearsals and people who take the time to actually enjoy Hollywood and skimp on the rehearsals altogether. Now the judges will have to think on their feet more — and be present all the time.

Boris and Natasha continue their operation in Arlington on “The Americans” (FX, 10 p.m.), trying to plant a listening device in the defense secretary’s office.

A new Canadian import “Life with Boys” (TeenNick, 8 p.m.) is a sitcom about a 14-year old girl with a raft of brothers.

How reliable were ancient Egyptian chariots, anyway? A team on “Nova” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) rebuild the structures to test them out.

Mike Tyson begins his role as a convicted murderer on death row on “Law & Order: SVU” (NBC, 0 p.m.).

Nathan Lane returns to “Modern Family” (ABC, 9 p.m.) as a golfing buddy.

A crossover episode of “CSI” (CBS, 10 p.m.0 features Gary Sinese of “CSI: New York” enlisted to help out on a case in Vegas.

Ed Begley Jr. runs a spa on tonight’s “Hot in Cleveland” (TV Land, 10 p.m.).

Reyna must adjust to Deacon joining Juliette’s band on a new “Nashville” (ABC, 10 p.m.), and Juliette tries to tone down her bubble gum image.

Armen Keteyan was in the control booth when the lights went dead at the Superdome. He shows the view on a new “60 Minutes Sports” (Showtime, 10 p.m.).

NBA action tonight includes San Antonio at Minnesota (ESPN, 9 p.m.). In the NHL, it’s Boston at Montreal (NBC Sports, 7:30 p.m.).
