I finally watched all the cast names during the Game of Thrones last night and found “Oona Chaplin” too resonant to resist checking out on IMDb.(She plays Talisa Maegyr, who was the nekked queen revealed to be preggers last night.) And Oona is exactly who one expects: Geraldine’s daughter, Charlie’s granddaughter, Eugene O’Neill’s great-granddaughter. Eugene had a daughter also named Oona, whom Charlie married.
Yes, incredible lineage, that girl. I first noticed her when she played Dominic West’s elegant and unhappy wife in “The Hour” which played two seasons on BBC America. She was also Watson’s girlfriend on an episode of the BBC version of “Sherlock” which has been playing on PBS’ “Masterpiece Mystery.”
The other odd connection in that storied family is Spencer Dryden, drummer for Jefferson Airplane, who also played in New Riders of the Purple Sage. Dryden’s father was half-brother of Charlie Chaplin and first moved to Hollywood to work as assistant director for Chaplin.
