"Masterpiece: The Paradise"Public television isn’t just in love with any and all British productions, they are also somehow fascinated with retail. So in addition to “Mr. Selfridge,” which could have ran one night but lasted a whole season (and will return for more), “Masterpiece Classic” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) brings us the story of “The Paradise” named after Britain’s first department store.

In it we follow the progress of a wide-eyed new employee played by Joanna Venderham, who gets in good with the boss, Emun Elliott.

There have dozens of  series about witches on TV and two of them start this week, starting with “Witches of East End” (Lifetime, 10 p.m.) which has more of the light feel of “Charmed”  more than “Eastwick.” Julia Ormond stars as a mother who had been shielding her daughters from the fact that they are witches, but with the arrival of her sister Madchen Amick, she has to break it to them. Rachel Boston and Jenna Dewan-Tatum play the daughters. It’s all based on the novel by Melissa de la Cruz and is supposed to be taking place on Long Island, but has the feel of a sound studio. The special effects are pretty bad.

The new series comes alongside new episodes of “Drop Dead Diva“(Lifetime, 10 p.m.).

Nucky has to help out his nephew Willie’s college problems and election day turns raucous on “Boardwalk Empire” (HBO, 9 p.m.).

While usually it comes too late for Halloween, he 24th “Treehouse of Horror” episode for “The Simpsons” (Fox, 8 p.m.) comes way too early this year (with postseason baseball, it’s one or the other). Still it’s got some imaginative things — from a very dark couch gag by Guillermo Del Toro to spoofs of Dr. Seuss and “Freaks.”

It’s Halloween, too, on “Bob’s Burgers” (Fox, 8:30 pm.) with Molly Shannon doing a guest voice.

As for the baseball today, it’s St. Louis at Pittsburgh (TBS, 4:30 p.m.) and Atlanta at Dodgers (TBS, 8 p.m.).

It’s Houston at San Francisco (NBC, 8:20 p.m.) in Sunday Night Football. Earlier NFL action has Philadelphia at New York (Fox, 1 p.m.), Baltimore at Miami (NBC, 1 p.m.), and Denver at Dallas (CBS, 4:25 p.m.).

“The Amazing Race” (CBS, 8 p.m.) is already off to a good start; they’re still down in Chile.

Carrie’s still off the deep end and still no sign of Brody on the second episode of “Homeland” (Showtime, 9 p.m.) for the season.

Dr. Masters finds a new lab for his study on “Masters of Sex” (Showtime, 10 p.m.) — a brothel.

Alan tells Celia his deepest secret on “Last Tango in Halifax” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings).

Sara tries to shrug off the affair and commit to her marriage on “Betrayal” (ABC, 10 p.m.). Which must mean that the series is over after two episodes.

Stuart rents a limo on “Hello Ladies” (HBO, 10:30 p.m.) and it doesn’t go any better for him.

Kenny gives up his job at the car rental business to try his hand at sports punditry on “Eastbound & Down” (HBO, 10 p.m.).

Finally, somebody sues the NSA and it’s “The Good Wife” (CBS, 9:30 p.m.).

With the men to woman ratio so high in Alaska, you’d wonder why women there would levave to fund guys in Miami. Maybe for the weather. The answers may be forthcoming on “Alaskan Women Looking for Love” (TLC, 10 p.m.).

Must all our holidays be militarized? “Halloween Wars” (Food Network, 9 p.m.) starts its third season.

The first part of a reunion starts on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” (Bravo, 8 p.m.).

“Mister Roberts” (TCM, 8 p.m.) is paired with “Ensign Pulver” (TCM, 10:15 p.m.).

“Cousins Undercover” (HGTV, 8 p.m.) is a lower key version of “Extreme Makeover-Home Edition” in which a pair of handy relations lead a team to quickly remodel homes.

The WNBA championship finals begins with game one of Atlanta at Minnesota (ESPN, 8:30 p.m.).
