Women rockers are prominent among the nominees for the class of 2012 in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame released Tuesday.

First time nominees Joan Jett, right, and the Blackhearts, the band Heart and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan are among a group of nominees that include such repeat nominees as Donna Summer and Laura Nyro.

Other new nominees include Guns N’ Roses, The Cure, rappers Eric B. & Rakim, The Spinners, bluesman Freddie King and the group that began as the Small Faces and ended as The Faces.

They join some other acts who have been previously nominated: the Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donovan and War.

Nominees must have released its first single 25 years earlier to qualify; the list of nominees now go to 500 voters before the induction ceremony in Cleveland April 14.
