After just three low=rated episodes the most recent of which drew only 3.4 million viewers, “The Playboy Club” will be yanked indefinitely on NBC, replaced by reruns of “Prime Suspect” until Oct. 31 when the new newsmagazine “Rock Center with Brian Williams” will premiere.
The show, one of two that put on costumes of the 1960s this fall, followed the behind the scenes life of the women hired as bunnies, though the first episode also had an accidental murder.
The actual chain of Playboy Clubs began in 1960 and eventually had dozens of clubs across the country before going out of business in 1991.
