I wish ‘The Mob Doctor’ were just ‘Mob Doctor’ so to be more like ‘Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer’ a property with which it shares wonderfully thought out premise.

Funny stuff, referring to the old “Saturday Night Live” sketch. And this from a reader in North Carolina, wondering what happened to the event formerly run by a funnyman, Jerrry Lewis:

I read the article you wrote about the 2011 MDA Telethon.  Did you knwo they only collected 50% of last year’s pledges without Lewis?  I knew when they announced pledges of $61 Million, something did not sound right.

I have searched high and low on the internet for the pledges raised in 2012 with the 3 hour show.  I can’t find anthing and I have send several emails to MDA asking for that information.  I found your article when searching for the 2012 information.

There seems to be this big cloud over MDA right now and I was wondering if you will be doing any additional articles in the near future on MDA?  Have you heard how much they raised this year?

I was never a huge Jerry Lewis fan and I know he has an ego the size of Manhattan, but I thought the way they pushed him out after 50+ years service was unbelievable.  Michael Vick’s dogs were treated better!

Let me know if you heard anything.

I checked with the MDA press office and they still had no totals for the Labor Day telethon — what a difference from the days of the instant toteboards.
