If you’re looking for a reason why the team with the best record in baseball collapsed in its ninth inning early Saturday morning in game five of the league divisional series; why Nats fans flush with their first experience of winning and postseason bliss since 1933 are walking around like shaken zombies today, there may be any number of excuses.

But how about this: There were actual zombies — or people dressed as actual zombies hanging around Nationals Park just before the heartbreaking game with the St. Louis Cardinals Friday.

It had nothing to do with baseball and everything to do with the impending Sunday season premiere of “The Walking Dead” and the fact that those on Dish TV won’t be able to pick it up because of a dispute with its network, AMC.

Did the Dish-protesting undead leave a faint odor of gloom on the stadium that eventually settled in that fateful last half inning? At this point we’re examining all possibilities.
