Battle-for-the-Elephants06-634x396African Elephants are becoming endangered because of because of an illegal trade in their tusks, to fuel the demand in China for the material. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species says 25,000 elephants were killed in Africa last year. In Tanzania alone, poachers kill 20 elephants a day.

In “Battle for Elephants” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings), journalists Bryan Christy and Aidan Hartley look into the illegal trade in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, by going undercover and posing as customers. These kinds of reports have been done before, but not with this quality of photography. Also, the look inside a ivory-carving factory is new.

Morrissey or not (he refused to appear on Kimmel with them Tuesday),  “Duck Dynasty” (A&E, 10 p.m.) returns for its third season as one of the most popular reality shows on cable, drawing 6.5 million for its second season finale. It must be the beards.

A new reality show “Boston’s Finest” (TNT, 9 p.m.) from Donnie Wahlberg, focuses on the Boston police.

A 10th “Top Chef” (Bravo, 10 p.m.) is named in the season finale between Brooke and Kristen.

There’s much to celebrate about the return of “Psych” (USA, 10 p.m.) — a seventh season after a long absence from the screen, a wedding, a girlfriend for Gus and the show’s 100th episode. But they still have to find out who killed Shawn’s dad in last season’s finale.

So far, the teams are even on “Survivor” (CBS, 8 p.m.). Which means: Nobody has to sit out challenges yet.

“American Idol” (Fox, 8 p.m.) invites the remaining half of the Top 20 women to perform for sudden-death. Judges will decide which five will have to go.

For the second two hour gulp of the sumptuous “Parade’s End” (HBO, 9 p.m.), the effects of th war are already being seen.

Botched home construction jobs are salvaged in the new “Rescue My Renovation” (DIY, 9 p.m.).

In the mean new series “Stranded” (Syfy, 10 p.m.), gullible people and armchair ghost-hunters are thrown into purported haunted places and filmed for a week to see what happens. First stop: the Oceanic Hotel  on Star Island, N.H.

Jeffrey Tambor guest stars on a new “Law & Order SVU” (NBC, 9 p.m.) that takes its inspiration from Chris Brown-Rihanna headlines.

Some actual stars pop up on “Nashville” (ABC, 10 p.m.), including Pam Tillis, Vince Gill and Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys.

Elizabeth Banks returns to “Modern Family” (ABC, 9 p.m.) for her wedding, choosing Mitchell and Cam to be her best men.

London film productions that went for the Oscars over the years are on Turner Classic Movies, with “The Four Feathers” (8 p.m.), “The Third Man” (10 p.m.), “The Fallen Idol” (midnight), “The Thief of Bagdad” (2 a.m.) and “The Private Life of Henry VIII” (4 a.m.).

NBA action includes Golden State at New York (ESPN, 8 p.m.) and Denver at Portland (ESPN, 10:30 p.m.).
