Liberia Street StudioThere was something different about the style of war photographer and filmmaker Tim Hetherington. He wasn’t only interested in gunfire and mayhem; he really wanted to connect with the people he was photographing and considered his role as he covered some of the most dangerous parts of the world.

“Which Way is the Front Line from Here?: The Life and Time of Tim Hetherington” (HBO, 8 p.m.) by his co-director of “Restrepo,” Sebastian Junger, includes a lot of what looks like outtakes from that great film of the Afghan war, but also includes much of Hetherington’s work in Liberia and in Libya where he was killed by mortar fire two years ago Saturday.

The season 13 finale begins on “Project Runway” (Lifetime, 9 p.m.) with Tim Gunn doing hometown visits to check the progress of the finalists Stanley Hudson, Patricia Michaels, Daniel Esquivel — all in their 40s — and Michelle Lesniak Franklin, 34.
