One of its Thursday night B-movies got a lot of attention earlier this summer, so let’s try another: “Invasion Roswell” (Syfy, 9 p.m.), about the secretive area in New Mexico, where aliens have returned to claim their lost people. Denise Crosby of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” stars, with Greg Evigan, once of “Melrose Place.”
There will be no “Sharknado“ (this year at least) during Shark Week. But there is the “Sharkpocalypse” (Discovery, 9 p.m.), a film that wonders whether humans are causing an uptick in attacks. Also, there is “Alien Sharks of the Deep” (Discovery, 9 p.m.), which is about not sharks from space, but from the bottom of the ocean.
And they may not have sharks but do these qualify? “Killer Catfish” (Animal Planet, 8 p.m.), or at least “Man-Eating Super Croc” (Animal Planet, 10 p.m.). Also in the act: “When Sharks Attack” (Nat Geo Wild, 8, 9 and 10 p.m.).
He was a pretty good judge on “So You Think You Can Dance,” so Jesse Tyler Ferguson joins the judging panel tonight on “Project Runway” (Lifetime, 9 p.m.), where the challenge involves bow ties, the symbol of the foundation he and his partner created.
About the halfway point for “Big Brother” (CBS, 9 p.m.) is about the time to spring a double eviction.
Jason Alexander, Josh Gad, Al Roker, Nick Cannon and Niecy Nash are among the players tonight on“Hollywood Game Night” (NBC, 10 p.m.).
Some of the summer’s best comedy can be found on the two succinct parody series, “Children’s Hospital” (Cartoon Network, midnight) and “NTSF: SD: SUV::” (Cartoon Network, 12:15 a.m.).
It’s the finale of the singing competition that never quite caught on, with a $1 million prize in the offing. So we can find out who the winner is on “The Winner Is” (NBC, 9 p.m.).
“Wilfred” (FX, 10 p.m.) has a typically twisted Christmas episode.
What would we do without the Canadian imports of “Motive” (ABC, 9 p.m.) or “Rookie Blue” (ABC, 10 p.m.) there would be no new scripted shows on TV tonight.
Vanessa Hudgens and Ashly Tisdale gab about their latest career moves on the special “Vanessa & Ashley: Inner Circle” (E!, 10 p.m.).
Roseanne Barr is voice of Kraang Prime on the season finale of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (Nickelodeon, 8 p.m.).
Fiona is in jeopardy on “Burn Notice” (USA, 9 p.m.).
Roman Novarro, who became Hollywood’s go-to Latin Lover after the death of Rudolph Valentino, is the star tonight on Turner Classic Movies with the silent films “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ” (8 p.m.) and “The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg” (10:30 p.m.) followed by “Mata Hari” (12:30 a.m.), “The Night is Young” (2:15 a.m.) and “Crisis” (4 a.m.).
Preseason NFL games begin to spill out with Cincinnati at Atlanta (ESPN, 8 p.m.) getting the nationally televised game.
