radioCPRBack after a few weeks off, I was back at the station tonight for a two hour show in which I thought the microphone didn’t work for most of it. I don’t talk all that much anyway, but I realized how generally unnecessary speaking is on the show.

Anyway, I began with some world music, moved to soul, some Big Star and power pop and then big blocks of Nick Lowe, who’s coming to town next week, and of the Elvises Costello and Presley, of whom I had some parlor games with friends on their best songs. It is also Elvis Week in Memphis, marking the death of the king 36 years ago.

That led to a little salute to Cowboy Jack Clement, the songwriter and producer, who died this week. Here’s what I played.
