In the new TV movie “Escape from Polygamy” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) Mary McCormack, right, plays a woman who finds herself in a multi-wife community under the control of a “Prophet” named Ervil. Then her daughter Hayley Lu Richardson, is drawn to the prophet’s son, played by Jack Falahee. Trouble is on its way — didn’t they realize how close his name is to Evil?

Still the Amish aren’t far away; in fact in a replay of the movie “Amish Grace” (Lifetime, 10 p.m.) that came immediately after.

Another new TV movie, “After All These Years” (Hallmark, 9 p.m.), Wendie Malick plays a woman whose husband leaves her after 30 years for a younger woman. When he’s found dead, she becomes the suspect, and must elude police long enough to find the real killer. The film also stars Andrea Martin, Martha Burns and Barclay Hope.

For the younger set,  “Swindle”(Nickelodeon, 8 p.m.) fills the bill for original movies tonight, giving Disney a run for its money for a heist caper filled with stars from the network’s other shows — Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande from “Sam & Cat,” Noah Grawford and Chris O’Neal from “How to Rock,” Ciara Bravo from “Big Time Rush” and Noah Munck of “iCarly.” The film is based on the children’s book by Gordon Korman.

Specials covering the 50th anniversary on the March on Washington include “50: The March & the Movement” (BET, 11 a.m.) and “Beyond the Dream: 50 Years Later” (Fox News, 5 p.m.).

Sports dominates broadcast TV with St. Louis at Denver (CBS, 8 p.m.) in pre-season football, a NASCAR race (ABC, 7:30 p.m.) from Bristol, Tenn., and, if you count it as a sport, the Denver finals of “American Ninja Warrior” (NBC, 8 p.m.) or maybe even, in a rerun, “Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls” (NBC, 9 p.m.).

The visually striking “Life of Pi” (HBO, 8 p.m.) makes its premium cable debut, as does “Magic Mike” (Cinemax, 10 p.m.), for the ladies.

A railroad accident delays progress on “Hell on Wheels” (AMC, 9 p.m.).

Voices on “High School USA!” (Fox, 11:15 p.m.) tonight include Zosia Mamet and Moon Zappa. Earlier, “Axe Cop” (Fox, 11 p.m.) goes after an evil rabbit.

Lake Bell was featured in the cast of the tedious “It’s Complicated” (ION, 8 p.m.) with Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.

Other moveis tonight include the animated “The Princess and the Frog” (ABC Family, 7:15 and 9:15 p.m.), “The Social Network” (Fox Movie Channel, 8 p.m.), “Dances with Wolves” (Encore, 8 p.m.) and“Slumdog Millionaire” (IFC, 8 p.m.).

The character actor Charles Coburn gets a salute all day on Turner Classic Movies with his work from mostly the 1940s and ’50s, “Vivacious Lady” (6 a.m.), “H.M. Pulham, Esq.” (7:45 a.m.), “Princess O’Rourke” (9:45 a.m.), “Green Grass of Wyoming” (11:30 a.m.), “Together Again” (1 pm.), “Made for Each Other” (2:45 p.m.), “Bachelor Mother” (4:30 p.m.), “Heaven Can Wait” (6 p.m.), “The Lady Eve” (8 p.m.), “The More the Marrier” (10 p.m.), “A Royal Scandal” (midnight), “Lured” (2 a.m.) and “The Power and the Prize” (4 a.m.).
