The 10 day game show experiment “Million Second Quiz” (NBC, 8 p.m.)comes to a close with its own 7,200 second finale (that is to say, two hours).
Ryan Seacrest names the ultimate winner from the various champions and everybody can leave those little pods they have to sleep in and quit eating Subway sandwiches they have been provided. After starting with some interest, the quiz hasn’t quite been the ratings bonanza the network had hoped. So I wouldn’t ordinarily expect a second “Million Second Quiz.” But it is NBC, after all, the home of odd decisions.
She’s likely to get the most sympathetic vote totals in “Dancing with the Stars” history, but Valerie Harper, battling cancer at 77 in the most splashy way, also gets her own interview special on a competing network, “Valerie’s Story: A Meredith Vieira Special” (NBC, 10 p.m.). Now how about a “Rhoda” marathon?
An hour is good for only about five decent auditions on “The X Factor” (Fox, 8 p.m.), which could be one of the problems with that show.
Put your childish things away as the summer ends. It’s the season finale of “Wipeout” (ABC, 9 p.m.).
Miss their premieres earlier this week? It’s the first reruns for new shows “Dads” (Fox, 9 p.m.) and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (Fox, 9:30 p.m.).
Amid a promotional blitz for his new movie, Jake Gyllenhaal goes “Inside the Actors Studio” (Bravo, 8 p.m.).
Some of the biggest fans of “Project Runway” (Lifetime, 9 p.m.) get makeovers and new styles created for them by the contestants. Designer Erin Fetherston is guest judge.
When they start to snare yachts on a show called “Airplane Repo” (Discovery, 10 p.m.) I think they’re reaching.
To prepare for their imminent new seasons “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC, 9 p.m.) and “Elementary” (CBS, 10 p.m.) rerun least season’s finales.
It’s Clemson at North Carolina State (ESPN, 7:30 p.m.) in college football action.
The month-long Thursday night showcase of Kim Novak movies on Turner Classic Movies continues with “Bell, Book and Candle” (8 p.m.), “Kiss Me, Stupid” (11 p.m.), “The Notorious Landlady” (1:15 a.m.) and “Phffft!” (3:30 a.m.), as well as an interview conducted earlier this year with Robert Osborne, “Kim Novak: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival” (10 p.m.).
