The deadliest natural disaster in the history of the Phillipines isn’t newsworthy enough for ABC News. So instead of a prime time special on the typhoon that is thought to have killed 10,000, “20/20” (ABC, 10 p.m.) has a scheduled a one hour special counting down the Top 10 political corruption in U.S. history.

It s less a tie-in to actual news than as to its prime time hit “Scandal.” Though I’m hoping they will use the news slot to update on the devastation.

The network has given full season orders to “The Originals” (The CW, 8 p.m.) and two other freshman shows, “The Tomorrow People” and “Reign.” Also given a full season order: “Dads” (Fox, 8 p.m.).

It’s not about Sherlock, but a building contractor named Mike: “Holmes Makes It Right” (DIY, 9 p.m.). Probably a followup to the short-lived series “House Flipping by Watson.”

Stacy Keach guest stars as an old crime reporter on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (Fox, 8:30 p.m.).

Not a surprise that Danny doesn’t know how texts work on “The Mindy Project” (Fox, 9:30 p.m.).

Finally, a Linda Hunt-centric episode of “NCIS: Los Angeles” (CBS, 9 p.m.).

“The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) wades into the Jim Crow era.

The four-hour biography of John F. Kennedy on “American Experience” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) ends just the way you thought it would. It’s one of the best overviews of his presidency this busy season.

Simon Helberg, from “The Big Bang Theory,” chooses the titles on Turner Clssic Movies tonight starting with two Peter Sellers movies, “The Party” (8 p.m.) and “Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb” (8 p.m.), followed by the romance “Brief Encounter” (11:30 p.m.) and Albert Brooks’ “Modern Romance” (TCM, 1:15 a.m.).

In college basketball, it’s Michigan State vs. Kentucky (ESPN, 7:30 p.m.), Flordia at Wisconsin (ESPN2, 9 p.m.) and Kansas vs. Duke (ESPN, 9:30 p.m.).
