“Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.), recently renewed for 13th season, has a 12th season premiere with the scheduled guests Glenn Greenwald, Mary Matalin, James Carver, Jennifer Granholm and Steve Schmidt.

The comedian dissects the nature of humor within his standup special performed in San Diego, “Patton Oswalt: Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time” (Epix, 10 p.m.).

The latest in the series of shows where loved ones are tracked down and reunited is “APB with Troy Dunn” (TNT, 9 p.m.) with Dunn on the case of finding a son given up a quarter century earlier or a woman seeking the killer of her father so she can forgive him.

Bruce Bozsum, chairman of Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun casino pretends to be a slot attendant and valet parker on a new “Undercover Boss” (ABC, 8 p.m.).

A balloon entertainment company hopes their dreams aren’t popped on “Shark Tank” (ABC, 9 p.m.).

“I Didn’t Do It” (Disney, 9:40 p.m.) sounds like teenage version of “The Hangover,” in which five teens try to explain how the house got so trashed the night before.

The second season start for “Cold Justice” (TNT, 8 p.m.) begins with a missing mother in Oklahoma.

A country singer is dead on “Bones” (Fox, 8 p.m.).

NBA action includes Clippers at Knicks (ESPN, 7 p.m.) and Warriors at Thunder (ESPN, 9:30 p.m.). Men’s college hoops includes Wisconsin-Green Bay at Wright State (ESPNU, 7 p.m.) and Canisus vs. Iona (ESPNU, 9 p.m.).

In hockey, it’s Anaheim at Chicago (NHL, 8 p.m.).
