The burst of early Beatles dominated the show on this 50th anniversary weekend of the British Invasion, of course, with sets designed to emulate their first set on “The Ed Sullivan Show” and then, the song order of their first U.S. show at the Washington Coliseum, a barn now used as a parking lot, and then just about everything on their first couple of albums — live, demo or official release.
Started, though, with the annual remembrance of Buddy Holly, on the 55th anniversary of his death in a plane crash on a snowy Iowa field, and then stayed to contemplate Valentine’s Day, throw in some soul and a Grammy salute to Daft Punk.
