He changes the familiar story a bit, starts it in 1890 and jumps to the modern day (she had been asleep a long time, after all). The music, however, stays the same.

The documentary “Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp” (Showtime, 8 p.m.) looks at the influence in the hip hop world of the Chicago criminal and author. Ice T produced the film, which is directed by his manager, Jorge Hinojosa.

The takeover of comics on pop culture and television is the topic on “The Writers’ Room” (Sundance 9 p.m.) with “Smallville” creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman along with Michael Schneider and Blair Butler.

A third season starts for the Boston dress battle, “I Found the Gown” (TLC, 10 p.m.).

The season ends for “Last Man Standing” (ABC, 8 p.m.), the Tim Allen vehicle which, after three seasons, is still standing itself.

Two hours of “Kitchen Nightmares” (Fox, 8 p.m.) is probably scheduled to correct some crisis in eateries.

An 11-year-old bow-tie designer tries to charm the “Shark Tank” (ABC, 9 p.m.).

A new “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.) after a week’s break has Annabelle Gurwitch, Christine Quinn, John Avlon, Charles Murray and Tom Steyer.
