penny-dreadful_612x380The beautifully creepy “Penny Dreadful” (Showtime, 10 p.m.) starts its second season, if anything even more elegantly navigating its stories between young Dr. Frankenstein and his miffed monster, a burgeoning werewolf and particularly the mesmerizing Vanessa suddenly infected with menacing witches.

The penultimate episode of “Mad Men” (AMC, 10 p.m.) has the firm adjusting to its sudden dissolution.

One of the great unheralded sitcoms of the (short) spring season, “The Last Man on Earth” (Fox, 9:30 p.m.) ends its season with Phil and Carol making peace.

Also ending its steady first season is Tia Leone in “Madam Secretary” (CBS, 8 p.m.); it will be back in the fall.

“Secrets and Lies” (ABC, 9 p.m.) ends its first season by resolving its case.

An Alan Ladd double feature features the western “The Proud Rebel” (TCM, 8 p.m.) and “The Blue Dahlia” (TCM, 10 p.m.).

NBA playoff games include Brooklyn at Atlanta (ABC, 1 p.m.) and Memphis at Golden State (ABC, 3:30 p.m.).

Stanley Cup games have Tampa Bay at Montreal (NBC Sports, 6 p.m.), Minnesota at Chicago (NBC Sports, 8:30 p.m.) and Calgary at Anaheim (CNBC, 10 p.m.).

Baseball includes Detroit at Kansas City (MLB, 2 p.m.) and Yankees at Boston (ESPN, 8 p.m.).
