ebolaAn investigation of how the ebola outbreak occurred and admission how it was mishandled all around gets a deeper look on a new “Frontline” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) from q quiet village in Guinea to panic in Liberia. It had killed more than 50 people and was mistaken for cholera before it was determined to be the highly contagious ebola when it first broke out in early 2014. The report by Dan Edge has a lot of chilling videos taken by people at the time.

We find Doctors without Borders was overwhelmed; the World Health Organization didn’t know how to deal with it; local health officials tried to deny there was an epidemic. Rumors spread that foreign doctors were killing people with injections, and so avoided treatment.

And when a healer died, hundreds came to touch her highly infectious body, causing thousands of new deaths.

Jon Stewart (taped before he made his farewell announcement) and Stephen Colbert (taped after he did) are the topical guests on the third season premiere of David Steinberg’s interview show “Inside Comedy” (Showtime, 11 p.m.).

“New Girl” (Fox, 9 p.m.) ends its fourth season, with Damon Wayans Jr.’s character Coach moving out of the apartment.

It’s the season finale, too, for “Person of Interest” (CBS, 10 p.m.), which is the one show most viewers want to have return, according to a USA Today pole. Ending their first seasons: “Forever” (ABC, 10 p.m.) and “Weird Loners” (Fox, 9:30 p.m.).

A “12 Angry Men” jury featuring stars like Paul Giamatti, Jeff Goldblum and Vincent Kartheiser try to decide whether the star of “Inside Amy Schumer” (Comedy Central, 10:30 p.m.) is hot enough to be on TV. Dennis Quaid plays the judge.

The generally unremarkable “Undateable” (NBC, 9 p.m.) tries something different: a one hour live episode.

A typhoon threatens crews of “Deadliest Catch” (Discovery, 9 p.m.).

Ken Burns’ “The Roosevelts: An Intimate History” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) returns for weekly two hour installments.

Eliminations are due on both “Dancing with the Stars” (ABC, 8 p.m.), “The Voice” (NBC, 8 p.m.) and “Hell’s Kitchen” (Fox, 8 p.m.).

Robert Osborne gets to choose the movies tonight on Turner Classic Movies. His choices: “Miss Sadie Thompson” (8 p.m.), “Torrid Zone” (9:45 p.m.), “Agatha” (11:30 p.m.), “And Then There Were None” (1:15 a.m.) and “Always in My Heart” (3:15 a.m.).

NBA playoffs today have Washington at Atlanta (TNT, 8 p.m.) and Memphis at Golden State (TNT, 10:30 p.m.).

In the Stanley Cup playoffs, it’s Chicago at Minnesota (NBC Sports, 8 p.m.) and Anaheim at Calgary (USA, 9:30 p.m.).
