A Michael Jackson impersonator named Navi stars in a new made-for-TV movie covering the last three years in the life of the King of Pop. “Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) was drawn from a book by Jackson bodyguards Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard about fatherhood, living in Las Vegas and preparing for a big tour. It’s accompanied by the documentary “Micheal Jackson: The Ultimate Icon” (Lifetime, 10:30 p.m.).
With her latest series, Shondaland invades Shakespeareland. “Still Star Crossed” (ABC, 10 p.m.) plays on the ongoing feud between the Montagues and Capulets following the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, based on the young adult novel by Melinda Traub. Lashana Lynche, Ebonee Noel and Wade Briggs star.
It’s not exactly a vote of confidence that it debuts on Memorial Day, a low rated night leading into summer doldrums.
“America: Promised Land” (History, 9 p.m.) is a two night special about the history of immigrants in North America, starting with the Dutch fur trade, Quakers fleeing England and other migrations including the California gold rush, the building of the railroad and the Great Migration of African-Americans. Part two follows on Tuesday.
A Memorial Day edition of “Independent Lens” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) focuses on an Army veteran who tries to overcome his trauma by raising goats in North Carolina. It’s titled “Farmer/Veteran.”
