It’s followed by colorized episodes from an equally beloved old show. “The Dick Van Dyke Show”  (CBS, 9 p.m.) — the 1961 “My Blonde-Haired Brunette” and the 1964 “October Eve.”

Will Smith’s latest big-budget film premieres online. “Suicide Squad” director David Ayer brings “Bright” (Netflix, streaming), a futuristic buddy cop film in which Smith’s character rides with a creature called an orc, and goes on calls to respond to elves and centaurs.

It’s not exactly bringing Monty Python back to public TV, but here’s “Eric Idle’s The Entire Universe” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings), in which he mixes history with song and dance.

Earlier, Sheryl Crow and 700 student musicians, the faculty of the Belmont School of the Music and the Nashville Children’s Choir sing carols on “Christmas at Belmont 2017” (PBS, 9 p.m.).

Lance Hunter helps out “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (ABC, 9 p.m.).

A secret threatens Jane and Weller on “Blindspot” (NBC, 8 p.m.).

“The Grill Dads” (Food, 9:30 p.m.) look for a good breakfast.

“Josh Gates’ Destination Truth” (Travel, 9 p.m.) goes to Micronesia.

“Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars” (WE, 9 p.m.) reaches its finale and ring ceremony.

The Christmas roster on Turner Classic Movies includes two with Barbara Stanwyck — “Christmas in Connecticut” (8 p.m.) and “Remember the Night” (10 p.m.) — and two with Judy Garland — “Meet Me in St. Louis” (midnight) and “In the Good Old Summertime” (2:15 a.m.).

Garland is also on in “The Wizard of Oz” (TNT, 7:30 p.m.).

Holiday fare abounds with “The Santa Clause” (Freeform, 7:30 p.m.) skipping to “The Santa Clause 3:The Escape Clause” (Freeform, 9:40 p.m.) as well as “Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas!” (Disney, 8 p.m.), “Christmas Under Wraps” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.), “Almost Christmas” (HBO2, 8:30 p.m.), the almost nightly “Office Christmas Party” (Showtime, 9 p.m.), “The Christmas Cottage” (Hallmark, 10 p.m.) and the Patrick Stewart “A Christmas Carol” (TNT, 10:15 p.m.).

Two college bowl games today: Ohio vs. UAB (12:30 p.m.) in the Bahamas Bowl and Central Michigan vs. Wyoming (ESPN, 4 p.m.) in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

NBA action includes Clippers at Houston (ESPN, 8 p.m.) and Lakers at Golden State (ESPN, 10:30 p.m.).

Men’s college basketball includes the Diamond Head Classic with Middle Tennessee vs. Princeton (ESPNU, 5:30 p.m.), Akron vs. Southern California (ESPNU, 7:30 p.m.), Davidson vs. New Mexico State (ESPNU, 11 p.m.) and Miami vs. Hawaii (ESPNU, 1 a.m.).
