The obit for Joanna Harcourt-Smith, who died at 74 in Santa Fe, only ran a couple of weeks ago. The Paris-born socialite was best known as paramour and defender of Timothy Leary. The LSD guru had escaped from prison with the help of the Weather Underground when Harcourt-Smith ran into him in Europe and began a whirlwind adventure before they were caught in Kabul. Some, like Allen Ginsberg, suggested she was a CIA plant.
Sitting before Erroll Morris’ camera, she can’t quite decide if she was or not in the engrossing documentary “My Psychedelic Love Story” (Showtime, 9 p.m.). Based on her own 2013 memoir, the timely tale is enhanced by all sorts of flower power graphics.
Tisha Campbell and Trichina Arnold the 2020 Soul Train Awards (BET, 8 p.m.) which features performances from Brandy, Babyface CeeLo Green, Chante Moore, Skip Marley, Charlie Wilson, Ella Mai and Smokey Robinson. H.E.R. has the most nominations, with eight, followed by Chris Brown with seven and Beyonce and Young Thug, with six each. Monica will get the Lady of Would Award.
It’s followed by “DJ Cassidy’s Pass the Mic: Soul Train Edition” (BET, 10 p.m.), featuring Shiela E, Jody Watley and Chaka Khan.
“The Undoing” (HBO, 9 p.m.) has a series finale after all the courtroom drama.
The fourth season of “Fargo” (FX, 10 p.m.) comes to an end as well, as Josto gets his revenge, Oraetta comes clean and Ebal teaches Loy a business lesson.
