Ronan Farrow, who broke the Harvey Weinstein rape case for The New Yorker (after NBC declined), has told his story of amassing brave women to go on the record several times — in the magazine, in a subsequent book, then through a podcast. He does it one more time in essentially a filmed version of his audio version, “Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes” (HBO, 9 pm.).
The six-part series is still quite compelling, particularly in seeing the women tell their stories again (and play the creepy recordings they made while wearing a wire for police who initially chose not to prosecute). The first two episodes run tonight.
A new “POV” (NBC, 10 p.m.) looks at the trauma that lingered after Hurricane Maria on Puerto Rico.
The new series “The Beast Must Die” (AMC, 10 p.m.) comes to cable. The revenge thriller is based on Nicholas Blake’s novel staring Cush Jumbo as a mother seeking answers for a hit-and-run that killed her son. It premiered online last week.
Guy Pearce returns for the final season as “Jack Irish” (Acorn TV, streaming).
Shark Week continues with “Air Jaws: Going for Gold” (Discovery, 8 p.m.), “Jaws Awakens: Phred vs. Slash” (Discovery, 9 p.m.) and “Expedition Unknown: Shark Trek” (Discovery, 10 p.m.) with Josh Gates and William Shatner.
But SharkFest also continues with “Shark Attack Flies” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.) and “Shark Attack Investigation: The Paige Winter Story” (National Geographic, 10 p.m.).
There is also “Stranger Sharks” (Discovery+, streaming) with Noah Schnapp from “Stranger Things.”
All Star break festivities begin with the once-a-year competition of the MLB Home Run Derby (ESPN, 8 p.m.).
