
There are so many bogus flying saucer shows over the years, it nearly went unnoticed when actual government UFO documents were declassified and released earlier this year. That wealth of information helps give weight to the new documentary series “UFO” (Showtime, 9 p.m.) that comes in part from producer J.J. Abrams. Add a little tense music, and it gets a lot more gripping.
It comes alongside a new season for “The L Word: Generation Q” (Showtime, 10 p.m.) which concentrates on the wedding of Sophie. There seems by now way too many characters in play in the soapy serial. And now there’s more, with the addition of characters played by Rosie O’Donnell, Griffin Dunne and Lena Waithe.
The Jonas Brothers sing a special version of their song “Remember This” to accompany highlights of the Summer Games during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics Closing Ceremony (NBC, 7 p.m.). Terry Gannon, Tara Lipinski and Johny Weir host. Dwayne Johnson will introduce athletes in the upcoming Paralympics. It happens live at about 7 a.m. this morning.
