The 73rd annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmys (FXX, 8 p.m.), held last weekend under a tent on the event deck of L.A. Live, gets a cable telecast. Honoring performers, artists and craftspeople in a wide variety of categories including casting, choreography, commercials, lighting design, visual effects, music composition and guest performances, the Creative Arts Emmys actually presents a lot more statues than will the Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday, for which this is a prelude. “The Mandalorian” has the most nominations, 19, followed by another series from Disney+, “WandaVision.”

Sports dominate prime time broadcast TV again with Auburn at Penn State (ABC, 7:30 p.m.) in college football and Philadelphia at Mets (Fox, 7 p.m.) in baseball.

“48 Hours” (CBS, 10 p.m.) begins its 34th season and is the only new thing on network TV other than sports.

A third season starts for the canine competition “America’s Top Dog” (A&E, midnight).

“America’s Got Talent” (NBC, 9 p.m.) replays this week’s finale.

A baby Wallaby makes a debut at “The Zoo: San Diego” (Animal Planet, 8 p.m.). And platypuses come to “The Zoo San Diego – California Tales” (Animal Planet, 9 p.m.).

This year’s version of “Mortal Kombat” (HBO, 8 p.m.) with Lewis Tan and Jessica McNamee, makes its premium cable premiere.
