Two network hospital series begin new seasons tonight, with the returns of “The Resident” (Fox, 8 p.m.) and “New Amsterdam” (NBC, 10 p.m.). On the former, cybercriminals seek ransomware on the fifth season premiere; the latter starts its fourth season with relationship issues.
But more than hospitals tonight there is the FBI. Efram Zimbalist Jr. couldn’t have ever foreseen a night where there are three straight hours of bureau capers, with the returning “FBI” (CBS, 9 p.m.) and “FBI: Most Wanted” (CBS, 9 p.m.) making way for the new “FBI: International” (CBS, 10 p.m.).
It’s clear that the best thing on broadcast TV even in premiere week is Ken Burns’ “Muhammad Ali” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings), which reaches episode three tonight and his fight with George Frazier — and the Supreme Court.
The reality series “Love on the Spectrum” (Netflix, streaming) returns for a second season.
“The Ultimate Surfer” (ABC, 10 p.m.) ends its season by naming a $100,000 winner.
There’s a second consecutive night of auditions on the new season of “The Voice” (NBC, 8 p.m.).
Paula is offered a settlement on “Impeachment: American Crime Story” (FX, 10 p.m.).
Oakland Raider team owner Mark Davis is profiled on a new “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” (HBO, 10 p.m.).
