What’s being called “Collection 9” comes for “The Great British Baking Show” (Netflix, streaming), with a new group of bakers trying to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith. Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas return as hosts. 

Melissa McCarthy stars in the film “The Starling” (Netflix, streaming) about a widow who learns to cope by battling a bird over her garden. The cast includes Chris O’Dowd, Kevin Kline and Timothy Olyphant. 

A second season starts for “Kota Factory” (Netflix, streaming), the black and white drama from India about a competitive prep school. 

From France comes the six-episode crime thriller “Ganglands” (Netflix, streaming) about a man who tries to protect his family from a drug lord. 

“Jailbirds: New Orleans” (Netflix, streaming) is a new reality series tracking incarcerated women in the Orleans Parish Justice Center. 

The true crime documentary series “Vendetta: Truth, Lies & the Mafia” (Netflix, streaming) looks at two anti-mob crusaders in Italy who may be connected as well. 

A new anthology series “An American Story” (Discovery+, streaming) takes up patriotic subjects, while “Point of View: A Designer Profile” (Discovery+, streaming), looking at a new set of interior designers and hearing about their processes.

“Curse of the Chippendales” (Discovery+, streaming) is a four-part true crime series about the mayhem that grew out of the popular male strip club

A 12th season starts for “Gold Rush” (Discovery, 8 p.m.), but it’s not as if the show ever takes a break either. 

The three-time Olympic gold medalist and sexual abuse survivor is profiled in the three-hour special “Aly Raisman: Darkness to Light” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.). 

“The God’s Honest Truth with Charlamagne The God” (Comedy Central, 10 p.m.) looks at the FBI. 

Naomi Osaka, Wanda Sykes, Kevin Love and Jadakiss stop by “The Shop: Uninterrupted” (HBO, 9 p.m.). 

“The Show” (Showtime, 9 p.m.) is a documentary looking at how The Weeknd put together his halftime show. 

Emmylou Harris and Steve Earle play “Skyville Live” (CMT, 10 p.m.). 

“Dateline” (NBC, 9 p.m.) is back for its 30th season.

Blake considers dropping out of the senatorial race on the second of two episodes of “Dynasty” (CW, 8 p.m.). 

“Big Brother” (CBS, 8 p.m.) has an unusual Friday night episode, when the final three — Xavier, Azah and Derek K. — enjoy their status and get video visits from their families.  

Tristan Harris, Jennifer Rubin and Richard Ojeda are guests on “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.). 

“Secret Celebrity Renovation” (CBS, 9 p.m.) involves Boston Rob, who puts another CBS show under his belt. 

A deadly love triangle plays out on a two hour “20/20” (ABC, 9 p.m.). 

“The War with Grandpa” (Showtime, 7:45 p.m.), the family comedy from last year with Robert DeNiro, Uma Thurman and Christopher Walken, makes its premium cable debut. 

A second season comes for the South African teen mystery “Blood & Water” (Netflix, streaming). 

John Mellencamp wraps up his second night of programming Turner Classic Movies with “The Fugitive Kind” (8 p.m.), “On the Waterfront” (10:15 p.m.) and “East of Eden” (12:15 a.m.). Then comes the horror movie “The Stepfather” (2:30 a.m.) and “Wicked Stepmother” (4 a.m.).

During the day, TCM has various non-beach movies aimed at teens in the 60s, usually involving an appearance by a pop act: “Get Yourself a College Girl” (6 a.m.) which has Nancy Sinatra; “When the Boys Meet the Girls” (7:30 a.m.) with Herman’s Hermits: the French musical “The Young Girls of Rochefort” (9:30 a.m.), “Having a Wild Weekend” (11:45 a.m.) starring the Dave Clark 5; “The Cool Ones” (1:30 p.m.) with Glen Campbell, The Leaves and Mrs. Miller; “Catalina Caper” (3:15 p.m.) with Little Richard and The Cascades; “Hold On!” (4:45 p.m.) with Herman’s Hermits again; and the best of them all, the Beatles in “A Hard Day’s Night” (6:16 p.m.).
