Friday TV: ‘Midnight Mass’ and More

Hamish Linklater plays a priest who turns an isolated island community upside down in the new horror series “Midnight Mass” (Netflix, streaming. It’s from Mike Flanagan, who previously conjured “The Haunting of Hill House” and “Bly Manor.” Zach Gilford and Kate Siegel round out the cast.

It looks like they threw a lot of money at the first film adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s influential sci-fi series “Foundation” (Apple TV+, streaming). Jared Harris stars as a revolutionary leader going up against the Empire. The cast in the 10 episodes include Lee Pace, Leah Harvey, Laura born and Terrence Mann. 

“Birds of Paradise” (Amazon Prime, streaming) is a new film about a couple of friends (Kristine Froseth and Diana Silvers)  at a Paris ballet academy competing for a position in an important company. Jacqueline Bisset also stars. 

Having won awards and nudging the court systems, the hit documentary “Framing Britney Spears,” produced with the New York Times, gets a sequel on all that’s happened since, “Controlling Britney Spears” (FX, 10 p.m.)

The fourth and final season of the Billy Bob Thornton legal drama “Goliath” (Amazon Prime, streaming) has his character rejoining a big firm to take on the opioid industry.  

“My Little Pony: A New Generation” (Netflix, streaming) is a full length film about the colorful equines, with voices provided by Vanessa Hudgens, James Marsden and Sofia Carson. 

From Joseph Gordon-Levitt comes “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory” (Apple TV+, streaming), an animated kids’ series drawn by Toff Mazery about the discovery of a strange realm in the center of the Earth.
