THE NEW FALL SEASON

Even for Sunday, television’s showcase night, broadcast networks have few new broadcast shows to offer this season. Content with their cartoons, on one network, game shows on another, and especially football on a third, there’s little room for anything new for 2021. Leave it to the CW, which not long ago didn’t have any Sunday night programming, to plug in a couple of new titles, returning to their once proud reality show traditions (“Beauty and the Geek,” the original home for “America’s Next Top Model”). This concludes our week-long day-by-day survey of the new fall season. Did you notice we skipped over Saturdays altogether? That’s because broadcasters have long been skipping over it as well, filling it with reruns, sports and news magazines. (Still, we’ll list a couple of returning shows, also courtesy of CW). Sunday’s saving grace has always been on cable, but premiere dates have yet to be announced for “Curb Your Enthusiasm” to “How to with John Wilson.”

NEW SHOWS

“Legends of the Hidden Temple” (The CW, 8 p.m., premieres Oct. 10). A revival of the action reality show that ran on Nickelodeon from 1993 to 1995 (with reruns the following four years) now involves adults going through the various challenges. Cristela Alonzo hosts.

“Killer Camp” (CW, 9 p.m., Oct. 10). Adapting the format of a British show that ran last Halloween, the new series gathers 11 people into an 80s inspired lakeside lodge where they learn there’s a “murderer” among them. Anyway, contestants start disappearing. They compete to earn money and try to identify the killer before they’re the next victim. Comedian Bobby Mair returns as host and pretend counselor.

RETURNING SHOWS

“Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” (ABC, 8 p.m., returns tonight), “The Simpsons” (Fox, 8 p.m., tonight), “The Equalizer” (CBS, 8 p.m., Oct. 10), “The Great North” (Fox, 8:30 p.m., tonight), “Supermarket Sweep” (ABC, 9 p.m., tonight), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (CBS, 9 p.m., Oct. 10), “Bob’s Burgers” (Fox, 9 p.m., tonight), “Family Guy” (Fox, 9:30 p.m., tonight), “The Rookie” (ABC, 10 p.m., tonight), “SEAL Team” (CBS, 10 p.m., Oct. 10).

OF NOTE ON STREAMING SERVICES

“The Mayor of Kingstown” (Paramount+, Nov. 14). From the creators of “Yellowstone” comes a gritty crime saga that takes on the issue of incarceration as a small town industry. With a strong cast that includes Jeremy Renner, Dianne Wiest, Kyle Chandler Aidan Gillen and co-creator Hugh Dillon.

SATURDAY RETURNING SERIES

“Whose Line Is It Anyway?” (CW, 8 p.m., returns Oct. 9), “World’s Funniest Animals” (CW, 9 p.m., Oct. 9).
