The gritty new drama “Mayor of Kingstown” (Paramount+, streaming) is set in a small town in Michigan where the prison is the big employer and a trio of brothers seem to run things — played by Kyle Chandler, Jeremy Renner and Taylor Handley. Dianne Weist portrays their mother. It comes from the co-creators of “Yellowstone” (Paramount, 8 p.m.), whose Hugh Dillon is also part of the cast. The 10-episode streaming drama offers two episodes online; but the cable network Paramount simulcasts the debut at 9 p.m. after “Yellowstone.”

The biggest musical event of the year is likely to be this exclusive concert from Griffith Observatory in L.A., “Adele one Night Only” (CBS, 8:30 p.m.) featuring the British pop singer about to release her first album in six years, with a single that’s already gone No. 1, “Easy on Me.”  The two hour special also comes with a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It comes after another musical highlight – director Peter Jackson talking about and likely previewing his big upcoming “Get Back” documentary series on “60 Minutes” (CBS, 7:30 p.m.).

The new series “Yellowjackets” (Showtime, 10 p.m.) enhances what looks like a standard teen horror story — a girls soccer team crashed in the wilderness in 1996, forced to cannibalism to survive — and give it some grown up cred by pairing it with the survivors’ lives all these years later, played a cast that includes Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci, who all have issues with each other about what happened.

Gilbert Sheldon’s legendary comix gets turned into an animated comedy series, “The Freak Brothers” (Tubi, streaming), with voices by Woody Harrelson, John Goodman, Pete Davidson and Tiffany Haddish.
