Two big fantasy series begin today online. 

“Cowboy Bebop” (Netflix, streaming) is a live action adaptation of the well-regarded anime series with the three space bounty hunters played by John Cho Mustafa Shakir and Daniella Pineda. Yoko Kanno returns with the unique jazzy music she also composed for the animated series. 

The new fantasy series “The Wheel of Time” (Amazon Prime, streaming), based on Robert Jordan’s popular books, takes place in a realm where magic exists but not every women can access it. Rosamund Pike leads a cast that includes Daniel Henry, Josha Stradowski and Madeleine Madden. 

The author of the musical “Rent” gets his due in the feature film “tick, tick…BOOM!” (Netflix, streaming). Andrew Garfield stars as Jonathan Larson; Lin-Manuel Miranda makes his directorial debut. 

“King Richard” (HBO Max, streaming), the new Will Smith movie about Richard Williams, the driven father and tennis coach of Venus and Serena Williams, makes its debut online as well as in theaters.

The Korean drama “Hellbound” (Netflix, streaming) premieres, concerning supernatural beings who suddenly appear, condemning people to hell, 

Nicolas Cage plays a bank robber sprung from jail to look for a missing girl in the horror Western “Prisoners of the Ghostland” (AMC+, Shudder, streaming).

“Harriet the Spy” (Apple TV+, streaming_ gets an animated adaptation in a new series with Beanie Feldstein giving voice to the title character, with other contributions from Jane Lynch, Lacey Chabert and Crispin Freeman.
