Hockey has its All-Star Game (ABC, 3 p.m.) from Las Vegas.

With the Olympics officially opening, there is all manner of events including Alpine skiing (NBC, 8 p.m.), cross country skiing (USA, 2 a.m.), U.S. vs. Czech Republic (CNBC, 8 p.m.) in mixed double curling, figure skating (NBC, 8:30 p.m. and 10:50 p.m.), freestyle skiing (USA, 5 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.’ NBC, 11:59 p.m.), U.S. vs. Russian Olympic Committee (USA, 8:10 a.m.) in women’s hockey, short-track speed skating (NBC, 8 p.m.), snowboarding (USA, 8:30 and 11 :30 p.m.; NBC, 11:59 p.m.) and men’s speed skating (USA, 3:30 a.m.). 

Guillermo del Toro’s remake of “Nightmare Alley” (HBO, 8 pm.) makes its premium cable debut, as does the thriller “Werewolves Within” (Showtime, 9 p.m.).

Everyday items are used for the impressions on “Great Chocolate Showdown” (CW, 8 p.m.). 

On “Crikey! It’s the Irwins” (Animal Planet, 8 p.m.), a croc attacks.

Amber Riley and Raven Goodwin stars in the thriller “Single Black Female” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.), which also features K. Michelle.

The two-hour “Jon Bon Jovi: Frontman” (Reelz, 8 p.m.) tells the story of the lead singer of the band that has his same name.
