The latest series in which a celebrity helps deserving people with home renovations has the star of movies like “Bridesmaids” and “Tammy.” and her cousin in “The Great Giveback with Melissa McCarthy and Jenna Perusich” (HGTV, 9 p.m.). The first recipient is a pregnant war veteran and her fiancee. It’s preceded by the similar “Celebrity IOU” (HGTV, 8 p.m.) featuring Snoop Dogg. 

The House Select Committee Investigating the Jan. 6 Attack (CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN, PBS, 10 a.m.) begins its first daytime hearing, focusing today on Trump’s efforts to spread the obvious lie that he had won the election. Witnesses in the session, expected to last two hours, include former Trump campaign manager Bill Stephen, former Fox News political editor Chris Stirewalt, election attorney Benjamin Ginsberg, former U.S. attorney Bjay Pak, and former city commissioner of Philadelphia Al Schmidt. But there will be time for some film as well. 

Game 5 of the NBA Finals has Boston at Golden State (ABC, 9 p.m.). It’s preceded by a “Jimmy Kimmel Live: NBA Finals Game Night” (ABC, 8 p.m.) with guest Samuel L. Jackson. 

“Rich & Shameless” (TNT, 9 p.m.) looks into the dark world of Girls Gone Wild. 

There sure have been a lot of specials by big name comedians introducing showcases for less well known comics. After ones by Bill Burr and Amy Schumer, here’s “Pete Davidson Presents: The Best Friends” (Netflix, streaming) with sets from Neko White, Carly Aquilino, Joey Gay, Giulio Gailarotti, Jordan Rock, Derek Gaines and Dave Sirus.
