Tuesday TV: Jon Stewart’s Twain Moment

A raft of stars pay homage to the man who elevated late night topical humor on “Jon Stewart: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize” (PBS, 9 p.m.). Bruce Springsteen performs alongside the night’s band leader Gary Clark Jr. and a number of past stars from “The Daily Show” show up, including Steve Carell, Samantha Bee, Ed Helms and (who remembers her briefest of stints?) Olivia Munn. Two “Daily Show” alums, Stephen Colbert and John Oliver, appear via video. Others adding to the accolades include the last Twain winner, Dave Chappelle, historian Jon Meacham, Jimmy Kimmel and Pete Davidson (whose date is Kim Kardashian). The fourth hearing from the House Select Committee on the Jan. 6 Attack (CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN, PBS, 1 p.m.) concentrates on the pressure put on state-level officials to overturn the 2020 election result,. Witnesses will include three witnesses from Georgia and one from Arizona. Testimony from Michigan and Pennsylvania will be on the screen. Highlights are repeated tonight on MSNBC at 8.

“37 Words” (ESPN, 8 p.m.) is a new two-part documentary about Title IX, the 1972 law that prohibits gender discrimination in education and sports. It concludes next week.

A new comedy special “Joel Kim Booster: Psychosexual” (Netflix, streaming) is his first for the streaming service, taped in Los Angeles.

The new series “The Future of…” (Netflix, streaming) looks to what’s coming in areas from dating to having pets. 

“Motherland: Fort Salem” (Freeform, 10 p.m.) returns for a new season.
