The new drama “Black Bird” (Apple TV+, streaming) begins with a faulty premise — that we’re supposed to have sympathy for the central criminal (who has amassed an arsenal of AK-47s in Chicago no less) because Taron Egerton is better looking than the neck-tattoo geek in the news.

Nevertheless, he’s the guy chosen to lessen his sentence by getting information about a dead girl from an inmate in a federal pen. Greg Kinnear is pretty good as the cop investigating the original death and Ray Liotta, in his final role, looks a little grizzled as Egerton’s dad, an ex-cop. Based on a real case, it’s adapted by bestselling author Dennis Lehane.

Speaking of birds, “Duck & Goose” (Apple TV+, streaming) is a new animated preschool series based on the children’s books by Tad Hills.

Lana Condor of “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” stars in “Boo, Bitch” (Netflix, streaming) about a teen girl who suddenly finds she’s a ghost.

The singer and pop star turns ghost hunter in the new series “Conjuring Kesha” (Discovery+, streaming).

The classic French tale gets a teen adaptation in the new film “Dangerous Liaisons” (Netflix, streaming) with Paola Locatelli and Simon Rerolle.

From Spain comes the six-episode drama “The Longest Night” (Netflix, streaming) about a cadre trying to break into a psychiatric prison in order to capture a serial killer.
