Friday TV: Neil Patrick Harris ‘Uncoupled’

Neil Patrick Harris gets to play a character closest to his personality in “Uncoupled” (Netflix, streaming) a new comedy from Darren Star of “Sex and the City” and “Emily in Paris” and Jeffrey Richmond of “Modern Family” about a gay New Yorker who suddenly finds himself single in his 40s. 

Gugu Mbatha-Raw stars as a woman with extreme memory loss after a possible sucide attempt in the new “Surface” (Apple TV+, streaming). 

The coming of age  comedy “Honor Society” (Paramount+, streaming) concerns a super-ambitious high school student, seeking to eliminate her competition. Angourie Rice, Gaten Matarazzo and Christopher Mints-Plasse star. 

Twelve-year-old pals are transported from 1988 into the future, coming to face to face with their grownup versions in the new sci-fi adventure series “Paper Girls” (Amazon Prime, streaming), based on the graphic novels by Brian K. Vaughn and Cliff Chiang. 

The new “Super Sized Salon” (WEtv, 10:30 p.m.) looks at a special boutique for plus sized women. 

Billy Gardell helps renovate the home of a best friend’s mother in Pittsburgh on the second season premiere of “Secret Celebrity Renovation” (CBS, 8 p.m.). 

On “The Rehearsal” (HBO, 11 p.m.), Nathan continues the elaborate family rehearsal while taking on another project involving a squabble among brothers. Good thing he had the bar replica flown out to the Pacific Northwest so he could have a drink.
